Embrace Failure with “gusto”

Embrace Failure with “gusto”

As a Carefree Entrepreneur, I finally had to accept that failure is... a good thing.

This is why I do not fear failure. I actually Embrace it.
It all started way back when I learn what the word “ignorant” really meant, for years I have argued when people were calling me ignorant, once I knew the meaning, I actually was looking forward for someone to let me know I was ignorant and soon I would NOT be ignorant anymore. As a AWAI member receiving messages, today I decided to share with you one posted from the Co-Managing Partner Rebecca Matter who wrote an article on this subject and love to share it with you.... enjoy!!!

All the best.

Here is what Rebecca has to say about failure... http://kaizen01.com/

----------------------------------------------
The Road to Success Is Paved with Accelerated Failures
By Rebecca Matter

Failure. It's a fear many of us in this industry know all too well.
And it's a fear that can get in your way from time to time, especially
When you're just starting out.
Failure is actually one of my biggest fears in life.
Yet ironically, when it comes to marketing, it doesn't faze me one bit.

Let me explain...
Early on in my career, I was told that if I wasn't failing, I wasn't marketing enough. The key was to uncover why I failed, and then turn it
into an opportunity to learn and become a better marketer.
Well, yesterday I was rereading AWAI's Accelerated Program for Six-
Figure Copywriting for a presentation I was giving that night, and I
came across a short section called The Theory of Accelerated Failures.
I thought of you right away, so I decided I would share it with you today...
“The road to success is paved with accelerated failures.” – Michael Masterson
According to Michael's theory, the way to become truly successful is twofold: You must be willing to make mistakes. You need to make most of your mistakes in the beginning of your career, and then immediately correct them.
It goes like this...
Let's say you've just written your first autoresponder series. You've
Gone through Jay White's Autoresponder Apprentice program, followed his instructions, put a lot of good work into writing the series, and you're pleased with what you've done.
You send it off to the client, feeling proud and full of confidence.
But when you ask the client for the results (and you'd better be doing this!), you find out that it only brought back mediocre results.

What went wrong?!
After the initial disappointment subsides, you sit down and review the
entire series more thoroughly. And right then, you see the mistake...
Your copy wasn't really directed towards the reader! You talked way too
much about your own experience and never really showed your reader how
your experience would help them.
So, what do you do next?
Apply the theory of accelerated failures...
First, you need to realize that you, like everyone else in the world,
Make mistakes.
Remember, too, that since this was your first autoresponder series, it
would be unrealistic to expect gangbuster results.
So, after you've accepted the fact that you made a mistake, you must
Then address the second half of the theory...
You must correct the mistake immediately.
In this example, you realized you focused far too much on yourself and
Not enough on the reader. So you go and learn how to better establish intimacy with your reader by practicing several different techniques (tip: if you have the Six-Figure Program, you have all the techniques you need!).
You then practice these techniques again... and again... until you have
Them down cold.
And then finally, you resolve to remember to never make that mistake again.

See how that works?
You make a mistake. Then you immediately correct it the first time
around so it doesn't happen a second time.
When you get to your second assignment, you follow the same process.
You correct the mistakes, learn from them, and make sure they don't
happen your third time around. And so on.
What this means is that in each effort you make, you'll be making
“smarter” and “smarter” mistakes. That's the power that comes from accelerated failures!
When you start looking at failures this way, you start to see them
as gifts, and instead of trying to ignore them, will actually seek
them out. Failures force you to look in new directions, approach
different angles, and continuously learn.
And that's what will make you a stronger and more successful web writer.
Of course, it's actually true outside of the web-writing world, too...
Most extremely successful people reached that status because they
weren't afraid to make mistakes... and because they quickly learned
from them.

Think about it...
Babe Ruth would never have gotten a home run if he wasn't willing to
get struck out first...
Henry Ford would never have created the Model T if he gave up after
his First try...
And Walt Disney would never have created Mickey Mouse if he wasn't
willing to give animation one more shot after losing everything in
a bad business deal...
Perhaps the most noteworthy example is Thomas Edison...
According to historical accounts, Edison failed 10,000 times in his
Storage battery experiments. When asked about these failures, Edison
replied, “Why, I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that
won't work.”
Edison went on to win 141 patents for storage batteries as well as
389 for electric light and power, 195 for the phonograph, 150 for the telegraph, and 34 for the telephone.
1,093 patents in all!
How's that for learning from your mistakes?
So, when you sit down to write your next (or first) email, article,
home page, etc., think about Thomas Edison.
Remember that true success can come only through failures.
And from this day forward, resolve to never be afraid of making a mistake.
Empowering, right? Now go out there and make some mistakes!

Focus on what is important

Focus on what is important

When working on our online Internet marketing business, it's very important to stay focused and productive. The more we can focus on the task at hand, the more we can focus to complete everything we need to do in a given time or in a give day or what ever time we set to complete any task or goal.

This system will assist us to reach our Internet marketing business productive oriented goals. Whether we're searching or researching a new niche, setting up our own new or improved website, spending time emailing, blogging or making new connections on any social media, the following five tips may make it much easier for us in the future and assist us to stay productive and eventually earn more income.

Find out how we best use our time with the use of a timer.

To manage our time, there is no better way than to get a very clear picture of how we're actually using that our time and when I say this I mean every minute of our time we spend working on our own Internet marketing business. Every minute that we spend on our present task at hand (work) we should make it accounted for. Without a timer that keep us on the alert it's very easy to sit down for hour doing what we can call work and find ourselves wasting away each and every minute and hours by chasing never ending links that takes us away from doing what we really have to do.

That is easy to do even when we chat on any social media and we use any excuse to convince ourselves that is work when instead is just wasting time because is not creating us any income from our Internet business.

Checking email half dozen times during the day is another way we can easily waste a lot of very valuable and productive time away from our Internet marketing business. There is many options available to track time, we can find them online, but they will not do any good to us unless we follow them correctly and diligently.

When we find one program that we are comfortable following and works for us, we should start by estimating the amount of time that we'll need to complete different tasks at hand and then hold ourselves accountable to that specific time making certain our timer can be seen from where we're working so we can stay focused on the specific task at hand.

The Bob Proctor technique.

By expanding on the timer point above, we can use our timer and use what I call the Bob Proctor technique. The technique, which I was exposed when I attended the Million Dollar Forum in April 1991 in a chalet type inn on the Laurentian Mountain, in Quebec., is a simple way to break down every large task or goal or job or program into smaller components that we feel comfortable to act or work on and so we'll have a better opportunity to stay productive and accomplish our goals much faster and on time.

Setting a timer and work on one task for 30 to 45 minutes at time is one way I like to do it at the moment, but you can set the timer at your own pace. Once the time we set is up, it is best that we take a short break for five to 7 minutes. After that, once we get back to work, it is best that we set the timer every 30 minute intense work time, and when the time is up, we reward ourselves by taking longer breaks if that is what we desire to do... in my experience, I found that it is great to take systematically breaks and stick to my set time to work and then reward my self once the set working time or the working day is over. This is a great way for me to stay focused and it helps my brain relax in between work sessions so I can actually end up working longer and accomplish a lot more... hope you can use it as well..

Changing work location.

From time to time I get the urge to change work space... I now live in a cottage country and live in a two bedroom 1000 sq feet cabin so it is great to work in different locations such as on the deck, or by the river or just under a tree. If you find that it is not easy to stay focused at the regular desk space or any other work location you have chosen, do somewhere new from time to time.

Go ahead and spend time at your Local Park or backyard or library. Visit your favourite Indigo or Chapter book store where they have places to sit and study/work with Internet WIFI access. Once you make some simple changes, you will soon find what is best for you and so from time to time you ca reward your self doing some changes and become more productive in your Internet business.

Many times all you need to do to re-fresh and re-focus is make simple changes or find a different scenery that bring you harmony. To keep up with productivity, I make a point to make some changes every few days and work in a new location and when I find my self unproductive for a certain period of time, I make changes even daily and once a month I even go out to eat at a restaurant where they serve vegan meals to reward my self and at the same time take the opportunity to find new places where I can go to work when I want to change scenery.

Make accountability a must.

Working on any projects or goals on our own makes it easy to find any excuse to procrastinate and put things off for some times and some times for ever. I found out that one of the best ways to stay focused is to have to answer to someone else. In my instance, since I live alone most of the time, I do it by email or Skype but if you live with some one or you have a special friend or best friend close by consider using them (willingly :-) as an accountability partner.

Once you do that, you can make a point to report to him/he periodically or at any time both decide to be best. I suggest that time to be on a daily basis. So make it a point to share what you are working on and what you will be accomplishing on a daily, weekly or monthly basis and then report to them about progress or luck of it.

Remember that knowing that you have to report to some one else... it make it hard to drop the task or goal or program and so you keep going and stay much more focused.

All the above will not happen unless we start with the end result in mind.

When I find to be difficult to work through some tasks that I find then in my liking, focusing on the end result or goal will assist me getting going. That is why I use visualization to explore deeply of what I like to achieve and see my self successful with my thriving Internet marketing business. I clearly visualize how it feels like to achieve my ultimate goal. What sort of income do I expect to earn. What kind of lifestyle I like to have.

By keeping the visualization alive and all the rest vividly in my mind, I can continue through those boring tasks that usually hold me back and stay on track and productive.

Hope all the above helps you as much as it helps me and more...

The beginning

Last February I reached the magic retirement age of 65... Wow, what I shock (some good and some not so good haha :-) Please visit my new website: www.liveyourlifetoday.info

The good, I can say that I graduated with honors from "School of Life" with a PhD in Gratitude, Patience and Acceptance from the central Higher University Education. (of course, all this is my creation but I am certain that most of you ca n relate very well... correct?)

I joined the work force way of living at age 12 and after some schooling (completed grade 8 that in those days it was really good :-) then I went on to learn a trade in Italy and graduate as a "Mould Maker".

That diploma was my passport to get a contract and enter the manufacturing industry in Germany for a year and half, before emigrating to Canada in 1964 and that where was the start of the "REAL" life full of happiness, disappointments and of course, every other challenges that come along in between.

My work experience in Canada started from sweeping floors at Honest Ed in downtown Toronto, to construction worker, tool and die maker and many other different jobs in between and finally, before being forced to retire from the so called “work force”, I worked as a subway, street car and bus driver.

From 1978 onward, I embarked in what I call "the exciding marketing journey" and the first course/seminar I attended to was with Joe Cossman a legendary dire ct marketing guru of his time...

That was followed by thousands of other seminars, workshops, forums and different programs till present and as you can imagine, included many well known and respected successful teachers as Joe Cossman, Vince Da Costa, John Kehoe, Bob Proctor, Lee Pulos, Mark Victor Hansen, Bernhard Dohrmann, Jack Canfield, Gary Halbert, Eben Pagan, Jay Abraham to name some.

In 2004 founded NicaVita corporation with noble intentions to assist others by sharing past experiences (good and not so good) and also monetizing it in some ways by introducing worthwhile products and services for readers to have access to and eventually earn multiple source of income to supplement my disability pension that with the passing years have reached a point that has less and less buying power.

This company is dedicated to follow what I call "Noble Living Standard" by following the #1 Rule consisting of 7 Words... "Be Healthy. Be Kind. Respect Everyone and the Environment".

In 1987, I received a disability pension from a work related accident and that put an end for me to be part of the active work force... BUT that did not stop me using my mind, my brain, my passion to succeed and so by using past experiences, it helped me find ways to get healthier, much healthier then before and was not long, I start to function as normal human being again as best as I possibly could.

2011 is here now, and I am happy to say that 24 years later, I have achieved success in many ways and in many fields of interest, thanks to God Guidance.

As the founder with NicaVita, I slowly have been working toward building what I call "The Consulting and Mentoring Pathway of a Noble Lifestyle" for me to stay active and of course to assist you and others all over the world find life balance in every way possible.
